Airport Project: Midway Airport

Chicago, Illinois

With the obsolescence of the existing terminals and gates at Midway Airport, the City of Chicago decided to rebuild the entire airport with a completely new structure. The experience at O'Hare International Airport, with only one manufacturer's control system in place, has inspired the City of Chicago's Department of Aviation to seek an open solution using the ASHRAE standard, BACnet.

Project Highlights

  • Alerton BACtalk for Windows workstation
  • 647 VAV Boxes
  • 56 air handling units
  • 25 BACtalk global controllers
  • Fiber-optic network integration
