For Immediate Release:Alerton’s Rack-Mounted WEBtalk IPort Improves System Performance and Streamlines Server SpaceRedmond, WA (April 21, 2005)—Building automation pioneer Alerton (www.alerton.com) today debuted its rack-mounted WEBtalk™ IPort. A WEBtalk system translates building automation data into Web pages for simplified remote monitoring. The rack-mounted version can be installed in a server room so that it is off the floor and out of the way of foot traffic. As simple to install as the original IPort, WEBtalk’s rack-mounted version fits into a typical server room configuration and facilitates integration of the hardware into existing networking equipment. “Equipment storage space is always at a premium, so we designed this version of the IPort to free up valuable square footage,” said Brian Stowell, WEBtalk product manager. “It also fits seamlessly into the rack configuration that IT staff prefer and most benefits their operation.” A WEBtalk system automatically reads building automation system (BAS) data from Alerton’s BACtalk system and translates the data to Web pages for remote monitoring. The IPort is based on server-class hardware, includes an uninterruptible power supply and is designed to run without scheduled maintenance. An additional fan improves system cooling and performance in a rack configuration.
