IBEX Systems Installation and Engineering Course

Course: IB-234
Title: IBEX Systems Installation and Engineering Course
Duration: Two Weeks
Schedule:

Week #1: Mon ~ Fri schedule is 8:00am to 4:30pm with one hour for lunch and two 15-minute breaks.

Week #2: Mon ~ Thu schedule is 8:00am to 4:30pm with one hour for lunch and two 15-minute breaks.

Friday schedule is 8:00am to 11:30am with one 15-minute break.

Audience: Building automation and control system application engineers, field technicians, and programmers.
Pre-Requisites:
  • Successful completion of Envision for IBEX Operator Course (IB-100).
Overview:

This course focuses on the engineering (design and development), installation, commissioning, and programming of an IBEX system. Students will learn the fundamentals of IBEX proprietary networks and how to engineer an IBEX system using hardware components and training consoles to simulate an actual installation. During the design process, students will practice utilizing the engineering tools and standard library components provided by Alerton.  After the design phase, students will setup an actual IBEX system with emphasis on advanced features.  During this process students will wire training consoles, which is designed to reinforce the hardware architecture and hierarchy of the IBEX system. Students will utilize the Envision for IBEX software, TUX DDC, and APEX DDC programming tools as they relate to engineering, commissioning and troubleshooting.

This course also emphasizes DDC development and programming. Students will receive instruction covering all DDC code devices available in IBEX. This is lab intensive curriculum allowing students the opportunity to gain practical experience writing DDC code for both programmable TUXs and APEXs. Students will also program peripheral devices such as the LANview.

This course is the second and final course in the IBEX System Certification series.  For more information regarding certification requirements, please see “Training Certification Program”.

Objectives:

After completion of course students will be able to:

o        Identify the various hardware components of an IBEX system.

o        Setup and configure Application Specific and General Purpose TUXs.

o        Demonstrate knowledge of the sequence of operation for all Application Specific TUXs

o        Properly terminate input/output, communication, and power connections.

o        Maintain multiple job configurations on a single PC.

o        Create and modify custom displays and templates for use in commissioning and troubleshooting.

o        Install and configure an Ethernet Adapter and the Envision for IBEX software to utilize an IBEX system over an Ethernet network.

o        Use APEX DDC and TUX DDC to view real-time DDC data.

o        Demonstrate an understanding of basic troubleshooting procedures.

    • Interpret the specifications and select the various hardware components of an IBEX system to fulfill the sequence of operation.
    • Setup an offline engineering workstation.
    • Design, configure and setup an Envision for IBEX system over an Ethernet network.
    • Be able to utilize the Applications Kits, the DDC Library and the standard Alerton-supplied graphics and templates in the software design phase of a project.
    • Create and modify custom displays and templates, IBEX points, Control Panels, APEX & TUX DDC to fulfill a specified sequence of operation.
    • Setup energy limiting, tenant activity and optimal start programming.

o        Create and modify advanced DDC programming for programmable TUXs.

o        Create/assemble complex control strategies in APEX DDC utilizing subroutines, Applications Kits, and the DDC libraries.

o        Create/manage entries in the APEX DDC user-defined library.

o        Create and modify the menus and screens of a LANview terminal.
