Title: BACtalk Systems Installation and Commissioning Course
Duration: One Week (32 hours over 5 days)
Schedule: Monday ~ Thursday schedule is 8:00am to 4:30pm with one hour for lunch and two 15-minute breaks. Friday schedule is 8:00am to 11:30am. Lunch is provided for the students Monday through Thursday.
Audience: Building automation and control system application engineers and field technicians.
Pre-Requisites:
  • Successful completion of Envision for BACtalk Operator Course (BT-100-CL).
Overview: This course, the second in the "BACtalk Systems Certification" series, emphasizes the installation and commissioning of a BACtalk System. Students will learn the fundamentals of BACnet networks and how the BACtalk System is implemented over BACnet internetworks, using real hardware components and training consoles to simulate an actual installation. During the process of wiring training consoles, students are introduced to the hardware architecture of the BACtalk system and BACnet network hierarchy. After consoles are wired-up students are methodically taken through the Envision for BACtalk software installation procedure. Students will utilize the Envision for BACtalk software tools as they relate to commissioning and troubleshooting.
Objectives: After completion of course students will be able to:
  • Identify the various hardware components of a BACtalk/BACnet system.
  • Properly terminate input/output, communication, and power connections.
  • Manage site-specific hardware devices with the ability to scan networks for verification of system communications.
  • Install Envision for BACtalk program and BACnet protocol.
  • Configure, operate and utilize the Field Service Tool (FST-100) in commissioning and troubleshooting.
  • Configure VLC Inputs and Outputs.
  • Create and modify custom displays and templates for use in commissioning and troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoot MS/TP LAN communications using a Fluke Scope/Meter.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the Envision for BACtalk Applications Database.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of basic troubleshooting procedures.
